Art Direction, Editorial Design & Production Strategy
Overview:
"Catalyst" is a longstanding publication sent to members of the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art for over 50 years. Originally a black-and-white newsletter, it has evolved into a full-color, semi-annual magazine highlighting the Brandywine’s exhibitions, events, and environmental initiatives.
Approach:
In 2017, I led a comprehensive redesign of Catalyst to make it more visual and better reflect the organization’s dual mission of presenting American art and preserving the environment. Beyond the redesign, I implemented ongoing layout refinements aimed at streamlining production and reducing costs, while maintaining a high standard of quality and cohesion across issues.
Impact:
The redesigned Catalyst received overwhelmingly positive feedback from members and the Board of Trustees. The new format successfully elevated the publication’s visual appeal while achieving a measurable reduction in production costs.
